WHO WERE THE CRUSADES
The crusades were mainly made up of four types of people:
Knights
A knight would ride a horse, have a long sword and big shield, with strong armor and a helmet with a face cover. Generally well trained, the knights were the medieval tanks. They were fast, powerful, well protected and well trained, overpowering any close ranged attacker.
Common Soldier
Quite well armored, open faced helmet, sharp sword and strong shield, fought on foot
Templar
Templars would not often have much armor at all, most wore a robe with a cross on top of a light chest piece. They also had no helmet often. They had sharp swords and were quite vicious. They were monks trained to kill whoever the pope said. Formally known as the order of the Templar. They wore little or no armour, were quite fast most of the time and had a good offense side.
Children
On the children's crusade, a boy called Nicholas rallied children all over Cologne and told them that they would succeed.
Few of the thousands that came with him had anything to fight with, and no armor, so this crusade ended quickly.
