Muslim - Christian relationships
Most people will say that the Muslims and Christians were always fighting each other. But actually, the Crusaders also fought Jews and other Christians as well .
In the first crusade, the Christian bishops ordered the Crusaders to walk and around the city and to pray while they were walking.
The next day, a Christian knight by the name Lethold, climbed over the city wall. All the muslim-defenders fled from the wall. The other Christian knights followed and killed the city defenders. The Christians seized control of the city and took off all the gold and riches people had.
Later, the Christians forgot where they were from and married either Christian women or Moslems (Moslims who were baptised)!

The Moslems which lived in the Middle-East had well farmed farms. Those Moslems and the European Christians understood each other compeletely! The Moslems's houses stayed untouched when Christians went on crusades and their property also stayed theirs. When there was war, the men of war fought their war, but the other people stayed in peace.
Franks (people who lived in France), had also lived in the Middle-East together with Muslims. On the crusades, the Franks from France which came to Jerusalem were harsher. Muslims which could come into Jerusalem prayed to the side where Mecca was. Franks told them to pray to the East like they did, because they were shocked that Moslims didn't pray into the right direction.
In 1260, an English churchman and scientist said this: "War is not effective because those who survive, together with their childeren, are more and more embittered against their enemies."

I hope that you have learned, from this page, that Moslims and
Christians haven't always been in war
with each other.
